Rodrigo Almeida

CULTURE TRAP

This fascinating piece of furniture is the work of Brazilian designer Rodrigo Almeida, who believes in the exploration of culture itself - a process that helps him discover objects and ideas and transform them into new ones.

Arapuca shelf is made of wood and fabric, and the name, "Arapuca” comes from an indigenous South American name for a traditional trap for birds and small animals. The shelf and storage unit is a sculptural object without losing its utilitarian function: the more you store stuff in it, the more sculptural it becomes because it's deconstructed form creates spaces and transparencies which the stored objects appear.
